This artwork is titled "In the Mountains of Tōtōmi Province" (Tōtōmi sanchū) and is from the famous series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji".

It was created by the renowned Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai during the Edo period, roughly between 1830 and 1832.

The scene depicts laborers sawing a massive log using a large frame saw, with Mount Fuji visible in the background.

Original prints were made using woodblock printing techniques with ink and color on paper.

To the right of the title box, Hokusai signed the print: Kanji: 前北斎為一

Transliteration: Zen Hokusai Iitsu

Translation: "From the brush of Hokusai, changing his name to Iitsu" (This was a signature moniker he adopted specifically during this prolific period of his career).
