This is a vintage black and white photograph showing the railway lines at Norton Bridge in July 1948, a year that marked the historic nationalisation of the British railway system into British Railways. The image captures the infrastructure including signals, a goods shed, and an approaching LMS locomotive 6126 on the Euston to Blackpool service.
Condition: The photograph is in very good condition with minor corner wear and some light silvering consistent with its age. The image remains sharp and clear. It measures approximately 135mm x 85mm.
Studio & Provenance: The reverse bears a purple ink stamp for "PHOTOGRAPH BY W. A. CAMWELL". W.A. Camwell was a well-known railway enthusiast and photographer, often associated with the Stephenson Locomotive Society.
Reverse Notes: Extensive annotations in pencil and ink identify the location as Norton Bridge and the specific train as LMS 6126 on the 4.55 pm Euston to Blackpool service, dated Saturday July 10, 1948. A hand-drawn diagram illustrates the track layout towards Stoke, Stafford, and Crewe, specifically noting the former North Staffordshire Railway goods shed.
