JD Vance, the 50th Vice President of the United States, was born James Donald Bowman on August 2, 1984, in Middletown, Ohio.

• Early Life and Career: Raised in a challenging environment marked by poverty and his mother's struggle with drug addiction, Vance was largely raised by his maternal grandparents. After graduating from high school in 2003, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a military journalist in Iraq.

• Education and Business: He attended The Ohio State University, graduating in 2009, and later earned a Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 2013. Following law school, he worked in corporate law and venture capital.

• Rise to Prominence: Vance became widely known for his 2016 bestselling memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, which chronicled his upbringing and provided insight into the struggles of the white working-class in the Rust Belt and Appalachia. The book was later adapted into a 2020 film.

• Political Career: Vance entered politics in 2021 and was elected to the U.S. Senate representing Ohio in 2022. While he was initially critical of Donald Trump during the 2016 election, he became a staunch supporter during his Senate campaign and subsequent vice-presidency.
