The head and shoulder plate are molded as a single piece of bisque — the earlier, fixed construction typical of French fashion dolls from the 1860s through 1870s. The bisque is in very good condition with a fine complexion, blue fixed glass eyes, a closed mouth with a gently pursed expression, and finely painted arched eyebrows and eyelash detail.

CONDITION — BODY:
The kid leather body shows significant age-related deterioration. The torso/chest area leather is cracked, splitting, and peeling, particularly at the neckline and upper chest. The arms and hands show general wear and darkening to the fingers. The legs are in comparatively better condition. This body wear is consistent with the doll's age and is clearly shown in the photographs.

CONDITION — HEAD AND FACE:
The bisque head is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, or hairlines noted. The facial painting is well preserved.
