Up for sale is a fantastic antique teapot!
This teapot is made by Mermod, Jaccard & King of St. Louis, Missouri.

This teapot is silverplate, the design is done in the Aesthetic Movement style.

The Aesthetic Movement took place primarily in the 1870’s and 1880’s, dating this teapot to that time period.

This teapot features fantastic representations of natural forms, including a dragonfly, leaves, and flowers. The background of the piece has a hammered surface, while the base and rim around the opening are decorated on a smooth surface. The handle, spout and finial are smooth and undecorated.

The teapot is monogrammed on the back side with the letter

“R”.

This is a bit hard to see, but you can find it in one of the photos.

This teapot stands 6” high to the top of the finial, is 3 1/8” deep, it measures 10” from tip of spout to the handle, is about 5” wide, and 3 7/8” across the base. 

It is marked 

“MERMOD. JACCARD & CO.

ST. LOUIS

MO.

1934

5”.

There is also a hand carved number to the right of the mark that reads

“1236

NL”.

The Mermod hallmark is double-struck, so it may be a bit difficult to read.

Condition is pristine, nearly mint! There are a few faint surface scratches on the surface from gentle use and care, adding to the fine patina. No other sign of use or wear of any kind, and damage at all.
