Antique French Mignonette Doll - Marked 301 5/0
Height: approximately 17cm (7 inches)
A charming small antique French mignonette (pocket doll), marked "301" with the size number "5/0" to the back of the head. The 301 mould is the well-documented French mould used by SFBJ (Société Française de Fabrication de Bébés et Jouets) and later under the Unis France label from the early 1900s, produced in sizes ranging from large child dolls right down to tiny mignonettes such as this one. Dressed as a little boy in a black felt suit and hat.
DESCRIPTION
Bisque/porcelain socket head marked 301 5/0, with fixed glass eyes, delicately painted brows and lashes, an open mouth with tiny teeth, and a mohair wig. The composition body and limbs are jointed. She wears her costume of a black felt jacket and trousers, hat, and a cream woven top, with moulded painted composition boots.
