From France, the centre of boudoir doll production in the early 20th century, these dolls were created as decorative ornaments for adult bedrooms rather than children's toys. 

Popular between 1915 and 1940, they often featured cloth or composition heads with fashionable, elongated proportions inspired by seductive long-limbed ladies of the era. 

This example showcases the impressionistic styling typical of French makers, blending whimsy with sophisticated charm. 

The head is hand-painted silk cloth ,with finely detailed features including arched brows and a dreamy expression. Blonde mohair  curls tumble luxuriously around the face and neck. 

The pillow base and collar are crafted from fine cream lace and embroidered fabric with scalloped ruffles, creating a soft, pillow-like cushion ideal for display. 

 Very good antique condition consistent with age, showing patina on the painted face and minor wear to the lace from gentle use.
