Brass Rhinoceros Sculpture Mid-century Modern 1960s Table Decor Lalanne Style

Description

A striking vintage one horned rhinoceros solid brass sculpture evoking the iconic design of the Grand Rhinocrétaire II (1964), a monumental sculpture desk by François-Xavier & Claude Lalanne. This substantial decorative piece captures the powerful presence of the rhinoceros in a realistic yet stylized form.

Beautifully cast in solid brass with a rich warm golden-brown patina that has developed beautifully with age. The rhino stands firmly on four legs in a naturalistic pose with a prominent horn, folded ears and expressive facial features. It will make a bold statement on a bookshelf as a book holder, on a console table or desk. It pairs beautifully with other animal bronzes, or modern art.

A collector's favourite and excellent conversation piece that channels the playful yet powerful aesthetic of Les Lalanne's iconic animal sculptures.
