🔎 Condition

eBay condition: Used.

The patterned cap and barrel remain visually attractive, with strong green, black and pale hatched detailing. There are surface marks, light scratches and general age-related wear throughout.

The gold-coloured clip, lever and broad cap band show tarnishing, surface wear and areas of brassing consistent with age and previous use. The clip and lever are both present.

The branded No. 5 nib is marked “Conway Stewart 14ct Gold”. It has age-related marks and traces of old ink. The nib appears complete, but its alignment, flexibility, smoothness, writing width and ink flow have not been tested.

The lever-filling mechanism has not been forced and the condition of the internal rubber ink sac is unknown. Due to the age of the pen, the sac should be assumed to require replacement before regular use.

The pen is sold untested and as likely requiring cleaning, servicing and a replacement ink sac. No claim is made that it currently fills, retains ink or writes correctly.

🧰 Testing

No ink or water-fill test has been carried out. The lever has not been forced, to avoid possible damage from a hardened internal sac or pressure bar.

📦 Dispatch

The pen will be supplied empty of ink, carefully protected and securely packed for dispatch on the next working day. Weekend orders will normally be dispatched on Monday, excluding Bank Holidays.

↩️ Returns

Returns are accepted in accordance with the eBay returns policy. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.

Collector’s Note: The Conway Stewart No. 28 is a classic mid-century British fountain pen. Its broad cap band, distinctive green hatched body and substantial No. 5 gold nib make this a particularly appealing restoration candidate and display piece.
