Offered for sale is a clean vintage 1975 (N5) Accutron 2181 (Ref. 2975) Stainless Steel watch. This is one of a number of watches that were part of a retired watch technicians inventory of watches and watch parts, acquired several years ago, that I have begun listing here on eBay.
Mechanically, the Accutron cal. 2181 tuning fork movement is in good running condition - since installing a new Swiss Renata 344 battery a week ago, the watch has been running steadily and keeping accurate time and date. The crown sets the hands and advances the date, as designed. Now, that said, the service history of this watch is unknown, so despite its good running condition at this time, I'm going to recommend that the new owner explore having the movement serviced in the near future, so that the movement's life can be extended to its maximum.
Cosmetically, the watch is in clean overall condition - the 34.55mm stainless steel case and stainless steel case back show signs of normal use in the form of small scratches and a few tiny dings, but retains sharp edges and corners all around (please review the photos posted with this listing for the best physical description of this watch.) The case back shows sharp factory stamping, along with a couple of scratches. The original silver dial with applied silver and black markers is in decent condition, but does show spots of wear around the edges as well as a couple of small specks; the original matching hand set is in excellent condition, without any signs of corrosion, as is the silver date wheel. The signed Accutron crown is in great shape, while the crystal, while generally clean and clear, has some light scratching around the extremities.
The watch is mounted on an NOS black genuine calf leather band from the same era as the watch, and will fit a wrist of up to approximately 7 1/2" in this configuration.
