Large Antique Sheffield Plate Box with Classical Repoussé Scene – C. 1865 – 18cm diam

Large Antique Silver Plate on copper Box with inset repoussé panel. Round body with straight sides, pie-crust borders, hinged domed lid (hinge now broken), lid is decorated with a round inset repoussé panel of a classical scene of a Grecian woman attending a pedestal fire bowl in a rural scene. No maker’s mark, BP.

Condition: Good/Fair Antique Condition. Silver plate polishes to a good sheen with little oxidation & cleaner buildup, some age related surface scratching, dings, misshaping & wear. Some missing plate mainly to the raised detail, showing the copper underneath. Internal section is clean with some staining. Hinge is broken, but lid still fits well without the working hinge.
