Why Second Hand Watch Collective?
·
· Built on experience: Our journey started with Christopher Ward and led us to create Ward Hoard, now one of the most trusted places to buy pre-owned CW watches. That same care, experience and attention to detail sits at the heart of everything we do here.
· A broader selection: Alongside our CW expertise, we offer a carefully selected range of pre-owned watches from respected British and Swiss brands - including pieces you may not have come across, but absolutely should.
· We are trusted: We are active in enthusiast communities and take real pride in our reputation. We encourage buyers to check our feedback and purchase with confidence.
· Stock availability: We hold a wider range of watches across our channels, with only a portion listed here due to platform fees.
· Offers and platform rules: Due to the fees charged, we can't take any offers here and due to ebay rules, we can't offer to complete the transaction outside of ebay. We also can't provide our contact details.
·
· We offer part exchanges/trades: We are always interested in buying or taking part-exchanges on quality pieces that fit in our wheelhouse. If you are looking to sell or trade, feel free to get in touch. We've got a form on our commerce site to set out details.
· All watches come with a warranty: We provide a minimum 6-month warranty on applicable watches where manufacturer cover has expired.
· We quickly despatch and deliver: Generally, most items are shipped next day. For items sold direct, in the UK, we use Royal Mail Special Delivery for watches (a next day service). For the USA and the rest of the world, we use UPS which normally gets it there within a week. We've got no control over eBay's Global Shipping Programme mind - this seems to take a little longer.
· Our shipping is cheap: Other than using eBay's Global Shipping Programme (which we have to use here), shipping for watches is £13.95 in the UK, £28.95 worldwide.
· Regular newsletter: We send out a regular newsletter to our subscribers - usually monthly or so giving advance notice of new stock listings before they go live on the site. Sign up on our website (Second Hand Watch Collective).
Our watches are listed in more than one place, so very occasionally something may appear available here after being sold elsewhere before we can end the listing. It's rare, but if it happens, we always honour the first sale and refund the second with apologies.
Now on to this particular watch...
Elliot Brown was founded by the former management team behind Animal watches, which will ring a bell if you grew up in the 80s and 90s. I certainly remember them from windsurfing as a teenager, when they developed the fabric/velcro strap and were “the watch” to have. The brand has taken that same “built to be used” mindset and pushed it much further, focusing almost entirely on durability and real‑world performance.
I’ve had a few Elliot Browns over the years and have a Tyneham in my own collection for the rough stuff - mountain biking and the occasional surfing trip. They are very straightforward watches in the best possible way — tough, reliable and not something you need to think twice about wearing.
The Beachmaster Professional sits at the top of that range. It was developed over several years and built around a specific use case, originally linked to a Royal Marines event. The internal split‑scale bezel, controlled via the upper crown, allows countdown and mission‑style timing alongside a standard countdown dive bezel. It’s not the simplest system at first glance, but it’s well thought through.
Power comes from a Swiss quartz GMT movement in a straightforward caller configuration. Beyond that, everything is focused on durability: 300m water resistance, reinforced case construction and screwed lug bars rather than spring bars. It feels built to avoid failure rather than add features.
The dial carries a lot of information but is logically arranged. Once you understand it, it works.
The watch is in excellent condition with only minor signs of careful use.
