ArchitectMade Oscar the Dog Designed by Hans Bolling, Beech Wood & Leather

About Oscar...

Oscar's body can be arranged so that he does everything a normal dog would. He can sit, crawl, stand, beg or even sulk in the corner if you have been away from him for too long.

He is, however, no ordinary dog. The highly specified and elaborate details of Oscar's body add a sophisticated dimension to his form.

Every angle, curve and bend has been craftily thought out over the span of a couple of years to convey a highly stylised, yet harmonious aesthetic object.

Oscar is an elaborately designed dog with a flair for refined simplicity, which makes you look twice. Oscar was designed in 1953 by a young Hans Bolling.

Hans Bolling

Born in 1931 in a small town of Braband in Denmark, Hans Bolling attended an Art and Handcraft School originally to become an advertising designer, however some years later he followed his passion for architecture and graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Art Academy. He designed a plethora of art works, ranging from dolls and furniture to villas, living complexes and town halls.

His love for dogs prompted a young Hans Bølling to design Oscar in 1953, followed by his brothers Bobby and Rufus with the same technical details. They represent a timeless depiction of the four-legged mans best friend.

Designed with Hans Bøllings characteristic humor, Oscar, Bobby and Rufus can imitate everything a dog can do. From sitting to begging to playing to crawling, their personality shines through, making them a joyful companion for every day (without having to take them out for a walk!). Hand made with great precision, Oscar is made from beech wood and leather.

He measures approx. 15cm long x 13cm high x 6.5cm wide. He comes with a spare rubber washer and instructions on how to fit it.

In excellent condition, no signs of use, please see pictures.
