NATIONALITIES No. 1
This game represents a struggle for supremacy, in which American and Europe are allied against Asia and Africa.
For your consideration is the Educational Card Game THE GAME OF NATIONALITIES published in 1897 by the FIRESIDE GAME CO. (# 1116). The game is complete with all 52 cards: 13 for each of the four continents (12 character cards and 1 national card). The colorful cards can be used to play 5 different games as explained in the Rules for Playing booklet that is pasted down inside the box cover. Also included is an advertising card listing "New Games." The cards measure 2-1/2 inches by 3-1/2 inches.
For about five decades I have been collecting the educational games produced by The Fireside Game Company of Cincinnati, Ohio their successor company, The Cincinnati Game Company, their parent company The United States Playing Card Company, and the re-issues of the games by Parker Brothers. I have amassed a near complete set of these games (including some of the rarest) and, over the coming weeks, will be selling the entire collection, starting with the earliest.
CONDITION: Complete with 52 cards, all of which are in very good condition with few signs of wear. There is a five-sided Rules for Playing booklet that is pasted down inside the box cover; it is in good condition, lightly soiled with some creases and some damage to the last page (where it appears that someone once tried to remove it). The box top and bottom are fully intact with no split corners. The box cover is rubbed and soiled. PLEASE MOUSE OVER THE PHOTOGRAPHS FOR CONDITION DETAILS.
