J.W. Clough, Chesterfield (watchmaker & jeweller). The firm operated from the 1890s into the mid-20th century, primarily on Burlington Street and later Packer’s Row. This piece dates to the early years of their business — most likely 1890–1915.Description & Features:

• Classic carved solid oak case with lovely period detailing: acanthus leaf carving to the base, geometric patterns, scrolled side supports, and an ornate pediment top. 
• Circular aneroid barometer dial (approx. 5 inches diameter) with clear white face, black lettering, and decorative centre.
• Standard weather indications: VERY DRY – FAIR – CHANGE – RAIN – STORMY.
• Pressure scale in inches of mercury (25–31).
• Matching carved oak thermometer section below with dual scale: Fahrenheit (right) and Centigrade (left).
• Brass bezel and original glass.
• Fully working mechanism (Aneroid barometer responds to pressure changes; thermometer is accurate).

Condition: Excellent antique condition for its age. The oak has a rich, warm patina with minor surface wear and small marks consistent with over 100 years of careful home use.
