Vintage Gibson EB-1 Bass Guitar (1970 Reissue) with Original Case

For sale is a vintage Gibson EB-1 bass guitar, understood to be a 1970 reissue model and owned by my father for many years.

A distinctive and increasingly hard-to-find Gibson short-scale bass with the classic violin-shaped body. The bass comes complete with its original hard case.

This bass delivers a beautifully warm, woody, and classic vintage thump. The unique dual-pickup setup gives it a brilliant injection of punch and clarity, retaining all of that deep, resonant Gibson warmth while making it incredibly versatile and perfect for the studio.

Condition and History

* Neck has been repaired at some point in its life.
* One control pot was replaced by Chandlers of Kew approximately 10 years ago.
* An additional pickup was fitted during the 1980s.
* General age-related wear and marks consistent with a vintage instrument that has been played and enjoyed.
* No serial number has been located by the current owner.

The previous owner stated that the bass had been obtained from Noel Redding of The Jimi Hendrix Experience. However, there is no documentation linking this specific instrument to Noel Redding, so this should be treated as an unverified part of the instrument’s history rather than confirmed provenance.

This is not an all-original collector-grade example, but a genuine vintage Gibson bass with plenty of character and history. It would make a fantastic player’s instrument, recording bass, or addition to a vintage guitar collection.

Please inspect all photographs carefully as they form part of the description. Additional photographs can be provided on request.

Collection preferred due to the age and value of the instrument, although insured shipping may be possible by arrangement.
