Up for sale is a very nice saddle form 90ties, a vintage Selle Italia 1997 Turbo Pro Team Special EditionMiguel Indurain saddle (NOS)

The Legend of the Turbo & "Big Mig"

The Selle Italia Turbo is arguably the most iconic saddle in the history of professional cycling. Introduced in 1980, it was the first saddle to feature a fully anatomical design, revolutionizing rider comfort. This specific edition commemorates Miguel Indurain, the Spaniard who dominated the 1991–1995 Tour de France. Indurain was famously loyal to the Turbo shape; even as lighter, carbon-fiber saddles emerged, he insisted on the comfort and reliability of this specific leather model for his Pinarello team bikes.

Design & Commemorative Artistry

This special edition is distinguished by its high-relief embroidery and premium materials:

• Embroidered Graphics: The rear of the saddle features a striking yellow and red "5," signifying Indurain's five consecutive Tour de France victories. It is accented by five gold stars and an embroidered replica of Indurain’s signature in white.
• Tour de France Branding: Bold red "Tour De France" lettering is stitched into the rear tail.
• Premium Texture: The cover is finished in a high-grip, vertically grained black leather, designed to keep the rider stable under high-wattage efforts—a hallmark of Indurain’s time-trialing style.

Technical Provenance & Authenticity

For the serious collector, the underside of this unit (Serial #0995) provides critical data regarding its rarity:

• Limited Production Serial Number: Stamped directly into the shell is the number 0995. This indicates it is part of a numbered commemorative run, making it significantly more valuable than standard "Team" editions.
• Production Date Stamp: The internal "clock" stamp shows a manufacture date of 1997/10 Pro Team collection, this unit was produced during the peak of Indurain's career transition.
• Original Collector’s Seal: This unit still retains its original red wax-style authenticity seal (Casa Fondata nel 1897). This seal was only included with premium retail units and is rarely found intact on vintage saddles today.
• Shell Construction: The underside reveals a high-impact nylon shell and traditional steel rails, offering the period-correct "dampened" ride feel sought after by L'Eroica and vintage bike restorers.

This is the "crown jewel" for any period-correct 1990s restoration, specifically for:

• Pinarello Banesto team replicas.
• L’Eroica vintage racing builds.
• Cycling memorabilia displays focused on the "Golden Era" of 90s Grand Tour racing.

Saddle has been cleaned and treated with BROOKS PROOFIDE leather dressing.
