A great collection of four Canadian National Railways / Grand Trunk Railway System annual employee travel passes issued to Mr. F.W. (Frank W.) Cowan and his wife Marie, who worked as an Engine Tester for the CNR. Each card features original black-and-white portrait photographs of both Frank and Marie, making this a personal and visually compelling set.
The passes span the tail end of the Great Depression through the early years of WWII — and show the couple aging naturally across six years, adding a human dimension seldom found in railway ephemera.
The four cards:
Backs note 15 or 20 Years Service, confirming Cowan was a long-tenured CNR employee. The 1936 back is signed by both Frank W. Cowan and Marie Cowan. All cards bear the CNR President's signature and countersigning officer notation.
Condition:
Good condition - shows typical wear - photos display well. See photos to fully gauge condition.
