DOCTOR WHO APPRECIATION SOCIETY NEWSLETTER CELESTIAL TOYROOM JUNE 1978 NUMBER 6

The June 1978 issue of Celestial Toyroom (#6) is a highly sought-after, vintage fanzine produced by the Doctor Who Appreciation Society (DWAS)
At the time, DWAS had just shifted to a paid membership model. As a result, Celestial Toyroom was transformed from a free swaps and pen-pals newsletter into a monthly A5-sized newsletter. Early editions like Issue #6 were duplicated using a Roneo or Gestetner machine and usually consisted of just 4 to 6 stapled pages.
A unique feature of this era of Celestial Toyroom was its mock newspaper headlines. Frequently written by fan Jeremy Bentham, these covers humorously depicted events from the Doctor Who universe in the style of TV Century 21 front pages.
Availability and Market Value:
  • Rarity: Because these early roneo-duplicated zines were printed in very limited numbers for society members, they are considered rare and highly collectible pieces of Doctor Who memorabilia
