An Aboriginal painting, acrylic on canvas titled verso Kurrajong Bush Medicine Seed and dated 2007, acrylic on canvas. Sharon Namina, AKA Sharon Numina Napanangka, is a Kaytetye Artist from the Utopia region, approximately 250 km northeast of Alice Springs. Sharon, her sisters and mother, come from a long line of desert painters of the contemporary Aboriginal art, and dot-dot central desert movement from well renowned painter aunties: Gloria and Kathleen Petyerre, both well established artists in Alice Springs.

The work is unframed, leaving the choice to you. It will be rolled up for shipping, mailed in a long tube.

The Story: The women collect the Kurrajong Bush Medicine leaves from around the central desert area. The leaves are then boiled in a large tin bucket. The Kurrajong leaves are good for treating the flu, headache, backache, upset stomach and chest pains – where the leaves are firmly pressed against the persons back or chest repeatedly. For cuts and bruises the leaves are boiled longer until the oils float then, it is mixed with an animal fat then applied to the wounds.

Size: the painted area is 115 x 91.5 cm, the full canvas marginally larger.

Condition:picture is in very good vintage condition, the colours are strong, vivid and vibrant.
