Stunning (& very heavy) early 1950s speedway trophy featuring a figural motorcyclist on his bike mounted on a tall pillar with a brass banding on which is engraved the following inscription:
"B.C.M.C. CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD MEET. BELMONT SPEEDWAY JUNE 11 1950. PASSENGER PICK-UP 2ND PLACE"
The trophy sits on a round, tiered ebonised wooden plinth with a felt base.
The motorcyclist & his bike are made from a heavy, solid base metal which originally would have been gilded but is now heavily rubbed exposing the base metal beneath.
Weight: 1.265 kg. Height: 210 mm. Diameter of Base: 90 mm.
