The pickle dish is a spiked variation of the traditional Double Wedding Ring quilt pattern. The usual curved arcs  are pieced using sharp triangles resembling a sawtooth pattern. This design variation takes it's name from the cut glass pickle dishes which were popular in the 1930s.
