This listing is for a Vintage. Small Pair of Indian Tourist Souvenirs - Two pretty little (9.2cm tall) Brass Figurines modelled on Traditional Bengali Terracotta 'Dhokra Bankura' Horses. They have stylised long necks, short tails, wide jaws, projecting snouts, and bulging eyes.

The Dhokra horse which was originally crafted in Terracotta originated in the city of Bankura in the Western Bengal province of India. Dhokra horse sculptures originate from an ancient Indian metal casting tradition known as Dhokra Damar, which dates back over 4,000 years to the Harappan and Mohenjo-Daro civilizations. This art form, which uses the lost-wax casting technique (cire perdue), is rooted in the tribal traditions of Eastern and Central India, particularly in modern-day West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh.

These attractive figurines would make interesting little items of home décor.

I Have More Indian Items, Together With Numerous Other Vintage and Antique Listings - Multi Item Postage Discount would of course be given where applicable.

Thank you for taking time to peruse my collection, and stay well,     Colin
