The "P8CB" features the same "Compact Grain Forging" technology—a proprietary TaylorMade process—as the "P7CB." High-purity S25C soft iron is carefully forged five times using a 2,000-ton press—more than twice the pressure of standard manufacturing—to create a dense, intricate internal structure that delivers the soft feel unique to soft iron forging. Furthermore, increasing the mass at the back of the head enhances the sense of unity with the feel.
