These letters, which are in good condition with some chips (see photos) may have been on a sign on Lumpkin St. in downtown Athens, Georgia. They may be from the 1960s or 1970s. They are heavy and are approximately 5.25” tall. WDOL was originally an AM station. It added an FM station in the 1960s. The WDOL radio station offices and studio were located on North Lumpkin Street in downtown Athens, Georgia in the 1960s, near the Georgia Theater, A and A Bakery, and the Music Shop. WDOL was known for playing folk music and was part of the local media landscape alongside stations like WGAU.
