U.S. Army Tank Corps dog tags are historical identification markers that evolved significantly through both World Wars. In World War I, members of the newly formed Tank Corps wore circular aluminum discs, roughly the size of a half dollar, stamped with their name, rank, serial number, and unit. By World War II, the design shifted to the iconic notched rectangular "M1940" style made of monel or stainless steel, which included more detailed medical information like blood type and tetanus status.
