--- White Tara ☑White Tara is one of the most renowned figures in Buddhism, with a strong association in Tibetan, Mongolian and Nepalese Buddhisms. ☑Tara is a Buddhist saviour-goddess that identifies as female bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism, and as a female Buddha in Vajrayana Buddhism. ☑In both Hinduism and Buddhism, Tara is a female deity who is an embodiment of compassion, purity, wisdom and liberator of the sufferings of reincarnation and death. ☑White Tara is worshipped by the Tibetans especially for good health, healing and longevity. She offers healing to our wounds which may be either physical or mental. ☑She is also associated with activity and abundance. Tibetans pray to her for wealth, dissolving obstacles and when they are leaving on a journey. ☑Revered as the mother of all Buddhas, she is the feminine counterpart of the bodhisattva (“buddha-to-be”) Avalokiteshvara. She reflects a perfect portrayal of maternal compassion, graceful strength, healing, longevity, and the removal of obstacles arising on the path to enlightenment.
Posture ☑White Tara, a goddess of many colours, sits in a meditative position in a blooming diamond lotus, with both legs folded under her, and her feet facing upwards by holding a fully blooming lotus, representing the day. ☑She exhibits grace and serenity and the love of a mother for her child. ☑Her white colour implies purity and that she is Absolute Truth, complete and undifferentiated.
Sitting on a bloomed Lotus ☑She holds a stem of the Utpala lotus flower in her left hand in a protective mudra form with three types of blossoms: resembling seed, ready to bloom and full bloom; which represent the Buddhas of the past, future and present.Whereas her right hand is in wish granting mudra. ☑She is seen holding a fully bloomed lotus which represents the day.
Goddess of Seven Eyes ☑Well-known as the Goddess of Seven Eyes, she has an eye in her forehead, and one on each hand and foot; which illustrates her compassionate vigilance to see all the sufferings of the world. ☑This also portrays her far-sighted ability to look into the past, present and future simultaneously.
Hand Gesture ☑Her left hand holding the lotus flower indicates protection to her devotees whereas her right hand makes a boon granting gesture which is why she is also known as The Wish-fulfilling Wheel. ☑Due to her peaceful energy offering the hope of spiritual salvation, the statues and thanka paintings of White Tara are widely used in meditation rooms or shrines.
