Country: Germany (Deutsches Reich)
Genre/Style: Weimar Republic Semi-Postal / Booklet Pane
Subject: Paul von Hindenburg (1847–1927)
Catalog Ref: Michel MH21 / Scott B19-B20 (Sub-types)
Stamps: 4x 8 Rpf, 3x 15 Rpf, 1x Leerfeld
Format: Complete Pane with Original Cover

Cover: The original cardstock cover is included, featuring the staple and clear black Gothic-style typography. It lists the original purchase price of 1.50 Reichsmark
Validity: Note the historical text "Gültig bis 30. April 1928" (Valid until April 30, 1928)
The "X" Label: In German philately, that red "X" is called a Zierfeld or Leerfeld. It was used to fill the sheet layout so the total value of the stamps matched the booklet's fixed price. Collectors of "Se-tenant" (stamps of different values/designs joined together) specifically look for these panes.
History: Released during the Weimar Republic era, these "Welfare" stamps included a surtax specifically designated for public charity and war invalids. The booklet was officially valid for postage only until April 30, 1928, making intact panes with covers a focused area of interest for historical and postal history collectors
Condition: Very Good (VG) condition. In keeping with a conservative grading approach, "Mint" is never used, though the stamps possess their original gum (OG) and the pane remains clean and intact with minor wiggle. Original cardstock cover is included, complete with the original staple
