Hybrid Agrias Beata Beatifica and Prepona dexamene, rare find butterfly, red blue shiny butterfly from Peru, entomology present

A hybrid butterfly is the result of the mating between two different species of butterflies. This can occur when two species that are closely related interbreed. The resulting offspring may have a combination of traits from both parent species.

Agrias is a genus of striking butterflies belonging to the family Nymphalidae. They are known for their vibrant colours, striking patterns, and large size. These butterflies are primarily found in tropical regions of Central and South America.

Prepona dexamene, commonly known as the Brazilian Blue Emperor, is a breathtaking butterfly native to Central and South America. With a wingspan of 100-130 millimetres, it commands attention. The upper wings are a rich, iridescent blue, contrasting with the dark brown of the rest of its wings. This species displays sexual dimorphism, with males exhibiting brighter blues compared to females. Found in tropical rainforests, it prefers the canopy levels. Caterpillars feed on various plants including those from the Moraceae family. Its conservation status is not widely documented, but habitat loss due to deforestation is a potential threat. This butterfly captivates with its vibrant beauty and size.
