The name "Atlas" alludes to the wing patterns that resemble intricate maps.

With a wingspan reaching up to 12 inches, the Atlas moth boasts large, distinctive triangular markings and vibrant, earth-toned hues. The adult moths lack functional mouthparts and do not feed, living only for a brief period to reproduce. Caterpillars of the species are equally impressive, adorned with spiky, snake-like extensions.

A source of fascination, the Atlas moth's name reflects its mythological significance, associated with the Titan Atlas from Greek mythology.
