Morpho sulkowskyi, commonly known as Sulkowski's Blue Morpho, is a butterfly species belonging to the Morpho genus. This genus is famous for its large, dazzling blue butterflies, and Morpho sulkowskyi is no exception. These butterflies are primarily found in parts of Central and South America, where they inhabit tropical rainforests and wooded areas.

Appearance: Sulkowski's Blue Morpho is known for its striking and iridescent blue wings. The upper sides of their wings are a brilliant blue colour with a metallic sheen, which gives them a dazzling appearance when in flight or exposed to sunlight. The undersides of their wings are usually brown with eye-like spots for camouflage.

Size: These butterflies are relatively large, with wingspans ranging from approximately 12 to 15 centimeters (4.7 to 5.9 inches), making them one of the larger species in the Morpho genus.
Habitat: Morpho sulkowskyi is typically found in lowland tropical rainforests and wooded areas in Central and South America. They are often encountered near rivers and streams.
Behaviour: Like other Morpho species, Sulkowski's Blue Morpho is diurnal, meaning they are active during the daytime. They are strong fliers and are often seen flying high in the forest canopy.
Diet: As adults, these butterflies primarily feed on nectar from a variety of flowering plants. They use their long proboscis to access nectar deep within the flowers. Their feeding behaviour also contributes to pollination in their habitat.
Life Cycle: The life cycle of Morpho sulkowskyi, like that of other butterflies, includes four stages: egg, larva (caterpillar), pupa (chrysalis), and adult. The caterpillars of Morpho species often feed on leaves of specific host plants in their larval stage.
Predation: While their brilliant blue wings may seem like a target for predators, Morpho butterflies are known for their evasive flight patterns, and their iridescent wings can also create a shimmering effect that can confuse potential threats. Additionally, they tend to rest with their wings closed, displaying the less conspicuous brown undersides.
Conservation: The conservation status of Morpho sulkowskyi is not widely assessed, but like many rainforest species, it may be vulnerable to habitat destruction due to deforestation and other human activities.
