Offered for sale is a nice vintage 1950 (L0) Bulova Duo Wind 10K RGP 17J Cal. 10AU watch for restoration or for parts. This is one of a number of vintage watches that were part of a retired watch technicians inventory of watches and watch parts, acquired a number of years ago, that I have begun listing here on eBay.
Mechanically, this watch is not currently in running condition - the 17J Cal. 10AU movement is not able to be wound via either the crown or the automatic winding rotor. The crown will set the hands when in the setting position. Some level of servicing/repair will be necessary to return this watch to proper time keeping condition.
Cosmetically, the 10K rolled gold plate case (27.85mm side to side, 38.5mm lug tip to lug tip) is in lovely, clean overall condition, with signs of normal wear evidenced in the form of light scratches, but otherwise really retaining sharp lines, corners and edges, with no signs of wear through of the plate finish anywhere, including on the rear surfaces of the lugs (please review the photos, as they form the best description of the physical condition of this watch.) The stainless steel case back is also in excellent overall condition, with strong factory brushing and sharp stamping. The original signed Bulova crown is also in great shape. The original embossed silver dial with gold hour markers shows some patina, marks and signs of aging, but is still presentable, while the original hands still shine brightly. The primary cosmetic issue with the watch is the lack of a crystal (fortunately, it appears that replacements are available here on eBay for reasonable prices.)
The watch is mounted on a the same nice vintage brown genuine pigskin watch band on which it was found, and will fit a wrist of up to approximately 7" in size in this configuration (it should be noted that there is a lot of room to punch more holes in the end of the band, if more length is required.)
Lots of good here for the Bulova watch collector, either as a project of its own or as a rich source of parts to use in other Bulova restoration projects.
