Taiyo Matsumoto
Born in Tokyo in 1967. Debuted in 1987 when STRAIGHT was selected for the Monthly Afternoon Shiki Award. Tekkonkinkreet, serialized in Weekly Big Comic Spirits, was adapted into an animated film in 2006. Ping Pong was adapted into a live-action film in 2002 and a television anime in 2014. Takemitsu Samurai won the Excellence Award in the Manga Division at the 11th Japan Media Arts Festival and the Grand Prize at the 15th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. Sunny, published in Monthly! Spirits, won the 61st Shogakukan Manga Award and the Excellence Award in the Manga Division at the 20th Japan Media Arts Festival.
