This is a very rare antique Art Nouveau - Victorian Goddess Woman and Snake Serpent Pendant Necklace depicting two snakes or serpents wrapped around the goddess woman. 

The pendant is 14K Gold. 

This is extraordinary imagery in this antique jewel that is over 100 years old.  Snakes symbolize eternal love, sexuality, rebirth and wisdom.  The snake gazing into the eyes of the goddess maiden is mesmerizing and magical.  The image of the woman and serpents is exquisitely created in 14 Karat yellow gold.  The expression on her face as she gazes into the eyes of the serpent is transfixing.  Her luscious hair cascading around her body and entwined with the snakes is extraordinary.  The jewel is a masterpiece of the Art Nouveau period and is extremely rare.
The goddess snake pendant dates to circa 1870-1910. 

It is extremely rare to find these early snake jewels.  The combination of the stunning rendering of the golden snakes and the goddess maiden create a wonderful antique jewel that is full of both drama and whimsy and the power and beauty of the natural world.  

Snake Serpent jewelry is all the rage today.  In the Victorian era the snake was the symbol of eternal love.  It has come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth and wisdom.

The pendant is 1 1/4 inches (30mm) tall including the bales.  It is 7/8 inch (23mm) wide.
