(It’s no wonder the Inca chose this area to be the seat of their empire.) These dizzying heights also happen to make ideal conditions for growing coffee beans with intense, complex flavor profiles, due to the curious combination of a generally cooler climate and more direct exposure to sunlight. Our supplier gives the beans a light roast, highlighting the inherent notes of molasses, dark chocolate, sweet plum, and apple. You get a crisp, clean cup with dense, satisfying flavors. Served hot, it’s great for sipping slow and long while catching up on the news of the day, and makes a great accompaniment to breakfast or brunch fare (especially fresh cut fruit or flaky pastries). That said, we’re also quite fond of serving it iced, so that its vivid flavors and bright acidity are all the more brought to the fore.
