The award of prizes for exhibits has long been a tradition for Agricultural Shows  throughout provincial France. These can be for displays or for excellence in animal breeding. We first saw them in a a butchers sh0p window in Paris.

In Australia, the recognition  can be demonstrated by a fancy ribbon. However, in the land of French Culture things are done a  bit classier. The prize there will be  a decorative plaque  and made of solid cast metal (usually aluminium) and  mostly beautifully designed as is this one from Saint Hilaire du Harcouet.

This example is 24 cm wide, 18 cm height and 0.8 cm thick, with a top centered hole to mound on a wall

Plaques such as these are designed to take a pride of place hanging on a rural farm wall. A group of them can look very striking and very, very French. Incredibly rare to find in Australia and I have about 1/2 dozen to sell. Have a look at Ebay France  to find  them.
