With the WRX version (2 liters turbo, all-wheel drive) Subaru takes a step forward compared to the Legacy, also benefiting from the withdrawal of Lancia. From its debut in 1993, the Impreza demonstrated its full potential with Ari Vatanen, second in the Rallye des 1000 Lacs. At the end of the 1996 season, the Group A version of the Impreza gave way to the WRC.
