Purchased prior to Lee McCarty's passing, but after Pup, this beautiful bowl was called a double old fashioned. With a nice diameter of 4.75 inches and a height of 3.5 inches, this beauty is designed to be a single serving piece - would be great for chili, soups, or such, but would also make a nice bowl for sauces, dips, nuts, and more. Lovely in a bathroom to hold lotions, sample sizes of soaps, shampoos, bath salts for guests; I'm sure you could find 100 uses for this piece - or just prop it on a shelf to display and enjoy with other pieces in your pottery collection.
When pieces in this glaze were produced, lines to claim them were long, and they sold out fast! This quality piece has lighter colors I don't see so much today; the nutmeg sprinkles against a white background are just that, "sprinkled," and the effect is light, not heavy brown The bowl is just as pretty inside as out! The lovely jeweled edge is beautifully distributed inside and outside the top of the bowl, dripping down over the edges in glimmering colors of deep teal blue and green. Sits level - no wobbles! The bowl is unsigned on the bottom, but the piece is unmistakenly McCartys from Merigold, Mississippi; no one else makes this glaze. It was purchased from The Gift Horse of Germantown, TN under previous ownership; this was and still is an authorized McCarty retailer.
Wrapped VERY securely for safe travels, this piece will ship quickly. If you are on the fence, you may want to hop off it and pull the trigger soon, as postage rates increase with USPS later this month/ Thanks for viewing!
