Antique Chinese circular lacquered wooden luopan, possibly/probably Qing dynasty (1644-1912).
Ancient Chinese Feng Shui geomancy compass, composed of a circular wooden disc with numerous concentric rings calligraphed by hand, with an old central needle.
The luopan was used to locate directions and study the orientation of a house, building or place, according to the traditional Chinese principles of Feng Shui.
This copy has a very beautiful old patina, with even wear, handwritten inscriptions still clearly visible and remnants of red markings.
