A lot of 4 Blue Green, Plastic, 2 Hole Buttons, Style 3425, Size 55 (1 3/8 inch) by Schwanda.  Made in the USA between 1951 and 1969.

Cards have tanning, foxing, bends, creases, stains, and edgewear.  Buttons are very nice with very little wear for their age but have still been boxed with other buttons and may need cleaning.  Buttons came from a country auction where the contents of an old fabric store had been kept in the farm’s out buildings.

Buttons are a Blue-Green with a square depression.  Buttons are a tad more blue and duller than the picture shows…they are a matte.  And they do change color as the light changes.

Buttons By Schwanda

Founded in 1887 by Benjamin Schwanda in Czechoslovakia the company originally manufactured ocean pearl buttons…the B. Schwanda and Son Ocean Pearl Button Factory.  By 1890, the company moved to New York and expanded to a worldwide manufacturing network.

The B. Schwanda and Sons records consist of fragments from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Their trademark for plastic buttons was registered in December 1951. In the 1960's the company was caught between the future of cheap plastic buttons or the beauty and quality of pearl buttons.  As a result, the company went bankrupt in 1969.

Any coins shown with the items are for scale only and are not a part of this listing.

Buttons are shipped in an envelope with a cardboard insert or in a padded mailer depending upon the buttons.
