Antique, well over three centuries old book of Satires of Perseus and Juvenal in both Latin and French. Book is bound in period leather hardcover boards with gold gilded design to the decoratively hubbed spine face. Exterior has been treated with renaissance wax by the former owner who was a prolific collector so it is easy to casually handle and is stable. Outer corners and edges of the boards have rubs or bumps and the spine face has some chipping loss. Likewise, there are very old, but superficial, "digs" at the spine side margin of the back cover and lower margin of the front cover along with crackling or crazing to the leather, namely at the spine face, which again, as mentioned is stable. Interior of the book is overall clean with moderately heavy soil to the blank outer margins starting at page 558 lightly and increasing in heaviness to the end of the book but then lightening at the back endpapers. Interior of the book has some other very light, age, use or handling wear like small soils or occasional foxing. Book's binding is tight and well intact and the book is complete with all pages present and none coming loose, detached or missing. Book has no odors.
Book totals 591 numbered pages with some more following the complete general text. Book measures approximately 6 1/2 x 3 7/8 x 1 1/4 inches and weighs about 3/4 pounds.
