This buy it now auction is for a very interesting stylised flat form figure.

The problem I have is that notwithstanding searches on the internet I do not know its origins,it’s composition or its age.I don’t like to sell an item on that basis but hopefully the photos might assist someone who understands this type of object.

I can address what I think the figure might be backed up to some extent online but I can find no matching item so here goes…

There seems to be a possibility that it is Inuit which is an Indigenous group of people inhabiting Arctic regions of Canada,Alaska and Greenland .

Stylistically there are some similar figures but I have not found one of flat form

As for its composition that’s tricky too.I believe it to be stone but it could be soapstone.It’s colour is grey.

I have priced this item to reflect how interesting and unusual it is and I think it has age to it but I have not costed it as an antiquity in case it is vintage,old rather than ancient.

My instinct is that it is not ancient.

Condition is good,
