Constantine "IOVI CONSERVATORI" RIC VII Heraclea 51 Ancient Roman Bronze Coin 18mm 2.88g
Please see pictures for best description. On the obverse the portrait is worn, some of the radiant crown visible, the legend is in better shape as most of it is readable. The reverse likewise is worn though in better shape overall than the obverse. Constantine the Great, one of the best-known emperors. 1,702 years old at least, a really cool piece of history.
Obverse: IMP C FL VAL CONSTANTINVS P F AVG - Imperator Caesar Flavius Valerius Constantinus Pius Felix Augustus - or Supreme Commander and Emperor Flavius Valerius Constantinus, Dutiful and Fortunate Augustus. Bust of Constantine I, radiate, draped, cuirassed, right
Reverse: IOVI CONS-ERVATORI - Jupiter the Preserver or To Jupiter the Protector. Jupiter, nude, chlamys draped across left shoulder, standing left, holding Victory on globe in right hand and leaning on eagle-tipped sceptre/staff with left hand; to left, eagle holding wreath; to right, captive. X / IIΓ in right field. SMHA in exergue.
Great coin for the beginner and the seasoned collector alike. Please feel free to ask questions and thank you for looking! Comes with a PVC-free coin flip. My opinions are somewhat subjective so please review the photos carefully and happy bidding!
