This is a fuel injection pump for the Mercedes M189 engine found in the 1957-1962 W189 300d Adenauer sedans and cabriolets. I sent this pump to Hans Utke (RIP) at H&R Fuel Injection on Long Island 10 years ago and he rebuilt it. I had him use an original diaphragm because I've found they're more flexible then the Hjeltness diaphragms. I prevailed upon him to retain the (original-marked "NY" which matches the stamping on the pump) lead seals unless impossible, and he was able to save 3 of them. I also had him leave off any finishing beyond cleaning as I have developed my own methods which tend to work better than plating and bare metal finishes, as well as the fact that he would sometimes use finishes that weren't found in the originals with these 1950s pumps, such as yellow zinc instead of black oxide for some parts. The bare aluminum has been painted with engine paint that duplicates the look of fresh aluminum and wears extremely well once it's been heat cured; it also protects the metal from corrosion. The clear zinc original-finish parts have been painted with a metallic paint that duplicates that finish and, again, won't discolor from exposure to the air. And the black oxide original parts have been left original if enough plating remained or painted with a metallic paint that again duplicates the appearance but protects better. The hashmarks duplicate those on the pump originally except for the full load adjustment screw and locking nut which I left undone as this screw will probably have to be adjusted once the pump is installed in an engine (but note the remnants of the red hashmark color on the screw itself which is the only use of that color on this pump, yellow was used on the nut). I then ran some kerosene throught the pump to lubricate and preserve it, filled it with oil, and stored it away as a spare. Note that I have the overflow valve assembly as well, it will be included.

This is a very rare part in excellent working condition with an original appearance which you will not have to replate every few years. Even if you don't need it now, it would make an excellent spare as both the supply of these parts and the know-how to rebuild them is diminishing rapidly (which is why I had this done years ago). Note to overseas buyers, especially in the EU: I may be able to ship directly (if you don't want to use eBay International Shipping), contact me for details (contact info is in the last pic); also, if you're hesitating, I remind you that prices of goods as well as shipping from the USA may increase significantly in the near future depending upon the tariff situation so I wouldn't wait if I were you.
Contact me to discuss this and any other questions you may have at twoonetwo eightsevenseven onetwofourthree. I have many MB W189 and M189 300d Adenauer parts as well as 108-109 300SEL 6.3 parts that I'm not using, let me know what you need.
Final sale, as is, no returns.
Happy motoring!
