Applying a "year date" that each specific doll was produced is very important to the collector. Starting in 1986 the date was written on the sewn-in tag. 

Prior to 1986 the date DID NOT identify the actual year of manufacture. The date was the copyright for the doll's head or body. 

If there was a second date, it indicated the year that the artwork, the head and/or body were redesigned by Annalee. 

So very many dolls listed on Ebay are not listing the correct date.  I have all Annalee catalogues going back to the beginning and 

I am very accurate with the dates my dolls were produced.  Thank you.
