Vintage Wooden German Incense Burner Shepherd Smoker Figure Erzgebirge Style

A charming vintage wooden incense burner in the form of a traditional shepherd figure, likely inspired by the classic Erzgebirge smokers from Germany.

These whimsical figures are designed to hold a small incense cone inside the body. When lit, the smoke gently escapes through the mouth, creating the illusion that the character is puffing away on a pipe or cigar – a wonderful piece of folk craftsmanship and a lovely decorative object.

This example depicts a shepherd holding a crook and cup, with a small sheep at his feet and a woolly shawl draped over his shoulder. The body separates at the waist so that an incense cone can be placed inside on the metal tray.

A delightful decorative item for collectors of traditional German folk art, incense smokers, or rustic wooden figures.

Good vintage condition overall. Light signs of age and handling as expected. Please see photographs for the best indication of condition.
