With an interest in military history all my life, particularly the Great War, I have been visiting the battlefields of 14-18 every year since the early 1990s and during that time (mostly pre-internet days) I have collected many Great War items. 

This listing is for one of many upcoming relic collections I will be parting with.  Most lots can be posted to you in the UK but some are strictly collection only.  Unless noted otherwise, all the items in this lot were surface battlefield relic finds by me in the very specific areas described, mostly around 20 years ago.

The sale is for lot #19 - another very interesting piece of German equipment in two halves.  This was purchased by me, not found.  I do not have a specific location for this item but it would have been found on one of the Somme battlefields around 20 - 25 years ago: Ovillers, La Boisselle, Montauban, Serre, Guillemont, Fricourt, Aveluy, Courcellette, Beaumont Hamel, Thiepval, Redan Ridge etc.  

All items are simple pieces of inert metal.  All are TOTALLY empty/spent/used/inert.  They are generally as found and uncleaned with original battlefield mud/dust.

These pieces are a fascinating and genuine connection to history from the Somme battlefields of WW1.
