Motorcycle Roller Starter DIY Kit with 12v High Torque Motor
Includes Pre-Cut Frame Materials, Ramp, Drawings, Wiring & Instructions

This is our tried and tested Roller Starter kit, developed and proven to work extremely well.

This updated version now includes the frame materials cut to size, loading ramp, and now also wiring cables and terminals, making it even easier to build your own professional-quality roller starter at a fraction of the cost of ready-built units.

As you can see from the photos, I only use good quality, brand new parts.

All parts shown in the first photo are included.
What’s Included:

Two rubber V rollers glued and pinned to their shafts

Enough chain to drive the sprockets and reach the motor

2 chain split links

1 high torque 12v motor with correct gearing to drive the rollers with fixings

1 easy-operate foot switch

Heavy-duty wiring cables and terminals

Frame materials cut to size

Frame Details
The frame materials are supplied cut to length and only require mitre cutting for strong welded joints.
Holes will need drilling in the upstands to mount the motor.
This makes it the ideal kit for someone who wants to build the roller starter themselves and customise it cosmetically to their own taste.

Power Requirements
To get the best performance from this kit, you will need:

A good quality 12v battery (ideally around 100 CCA or higher)
A strong set of heavy-duty jump leads

The supplied wiring cables and terminals make installation straightforward, and using a suitable battery ensures the motor delivers the torque required for reliable starting.

Battery and jump leads not included.

Proven Performance

I’ve tested my own build on various bikes, including a modern high-compression single cylinder.

The kit is more than capable of handling the torque required to start even the most stubborn bikes.

Check out our recently opened YouTube channel to see them in action and to check out some of our customers builds.

These roller starters are a huge help with difficult-to-start motorcycles and allow riders to continue enjoying their vintage and classic machines.

The second photo shows the kit assembled on a basic frame for demonstration purposes.

I offer different variations of this kit to suit different requirements — from the basic roller kit through to this comprehensive version that only requires fabrication and assembly. Please see my other listings.

I’ve sold a number of these kits locally and internationally (including as far as California), and they always receive excellent feedback — please check my reviews.

The colour of the bearings may differ depending on stock availability.

⚠️ Please note: Once built, this is a powerful tool with moving gears and chains. Safe construction and careful operation are essential.
