Frédéric Sauvage  (1786 - 1857)

We owe him the "physiognometer", a device allowing to grasp the features of a face in order to make a bust, its complement the reducing physiognotype, and the hydraulic bellows (April 1847), a concept which is the basis of exhaustion pumps.

But it is best known, in France only, as "the inventor" of the naval propeller. This legend has been the subject of multiple controversies and controversies maintained, especially by the press, from 1842 to the present day.
