This is a genuine vintage Cartier base watch with some aftermarket components (diamonds on crown/bezel and strap).
A beautiful opportunity to own an authentic Cartier Tank Must at a fraction of the price of solid gold models.
Comparable vintage Must de Cartier models in similar overall condition trade in the $4,000–$5,000 CAD range depending on originality and configuration.
I originally purchased this piece believing it to be solid gold. Upon further review and professional inspection, I confirmed it is the classic Cartier vermeil construction (gold-plated over sterling silver), which is standard for many Must de Cartier models from this era.
Rather than hold onto it, I’ve decided to pass it along at a price that reflects full transparency about its composition and modifications.
It remains an authentic vintage Cartier Tank with strong character and presence, just not the solid gold example I had initially intended to purchase.
My experience has been a reminder to always verify vintage pieces carefully. The benefit to the next owner is a well-documented, professionally inspected watch offered at a fair and realistic price.
